HORNSEA III OPEN WITH WIN AT HULL ZINGARI
A thrilling final over victory for the thirds came about with the whole team contributing. 7 bowlers were used in restricting Zingari to just 127 runs. Fine bowling performances from all the junior bowlers ensured the run chase to follow was always within grasp. Fine ground fielding supported the bowling but some work is required with catching. Batting became increasingly more difficult on an underprepared wicket, but a blazing 37 not out by man of the match Ian Wilson saw this young Hornsea team home with 3 balls to spare. Captain Graham Wallis said afterwards, "This was a solid team performance, which was based on the team playing for eachother. Although we know we need to improve in one or two areas generally I was pleased in the way the team responded"
The 3rd teams next game is against Flamborough at home on Saturday 10th May.

HORNSEA II LEFT DISAPPOINTED WITH SECOND DEFEAT
Hornsea seconds
were left disappointed after their second defeat in two games against
Welton and Brough. Hornsea having lost the toss were put in and after
the first 10 over's were 11 for no wicket. The two openers had played
some good shots but due to the wet outfield were not finding the
boundary as often as they would have liked. Knapton tried to increase
the run rate but this resulted in him being bowled for 5.
Evans joined Massey and together they took the score on to 73 before
Massey was bowled for a valuable 40, with in 2 over's Evans was also
back in the pavilion having scored a hard hitting 30.
At stage of the innings it required one of the Hornsea batsman to lift
the score to around 160 which would have been a winning target.
Unfortunately wickets were falling in quick succession and the only
player who did himself any credit was 13 year old Tom Kohler-Cadmore.
Hornsea managed to see out their 45 over's but only had scored 127 for
9.
With the experienced opening bowling attack of Lewis and Mckenzie the
team were hopeful then 127 would be enough. With the opening batsman
having their fair share of luck they took the opening partnership to 48
before first change bowler Evans bowled Pemberton for 27. Three more
wicket fell, two to Evans and one to Ben Kohler-Cdamore before Fewster
having been dropped on 8 went on to make a hard hitting 39 not out which
saw Welton home with 4.5 over's to spare.
Hornsea now travel to Cawood next Saturday to try and get there first
win of the new season.
The team are currently looking for a scorer for the remainder of the
season the benefits include a £15 payment per match and a free tea. If
you feel that you would like to know more about the job please contact
